About me
Will Pierce
“When I work, I usually have no fixed outcome in mind and rely on spontaneity, allowing choices and decisions to be made as the drawing or painting unfolds. I work from life, but also use preliminary drawings and photographs as sources of reference.
Much of my work focuses on cityscapes, especially London. I love the way a city is continually evolving, both in its infrastructure and in its population. I enjoy the challenge of capturing a snapshot of urban life, a moment in time which can never be revisited.
I am fascinated by the physicality of paint and sometimes apply the paint in an impasto way, using a palette knife. Sometimes I develop drawings into prints and I enjoy experimenting with different print techniques.”
